Nicole Kogler is recognized as a "New Face of Civil Engineering"

– Nicole Kogler, EIT, a Project Designer for Nitsch Engineering, a Boston-based civil engineering, land surveying, and planning firm, was recently selected by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) as one of the "Top 20 New Faces of Civil Engineering." ASCE's New Faces of Civil Engineering spotlights the outstanding contributions of America's young and talented engineers.

Nicole worked for Nitsch Engineering as a co-op student for two years while studying civil engineering at Northeastern University. Now a project designer for the firm, her responsibilities include site design, engineering, and permitting for development projects.

Nicole recently assisted in developing a Stormwater Master Plan for the University of Virginia, including conducting an extensive hydrologic assessment, researching opportunities for treating stormwater runoff, daylighting streams, and recreating wetland areas. She presented the Stormwater Master Plan to the University of Virginia's Landscape Architecture graduate students earlier this year.

As both a student and now as a professional, Nicole has been an E-Mentor through Northeastern University's Connections Program for high school girls and female undergraduate engineering students. As a professional mentor, she has presented at the Career Management Class and has participated as a panelist in a professional development discussion. Nicole is also active in mentoring and outreach activities for the Boston Society of Civil Engineers (BSCES) and the Women's Transportation Seminar (WTS). Nicole is a member of ASCE, WTS, and BSCES. She is also the Secretary for the 2003 National Engineers' Week Event in Boston.
