Municipal Airport Projects

Orange Municipal Airport, Utility Analysis
Location: Orange, MA
Client: Campbell & Paris Engineers

Nitsch Engineering performed a utility analysis for a feasibility study on land owned by the Orange Airport. The resulting report presented several alternative designs for water supply and sewage discharge, evaluated access and roadway improvements, and contained a preliminary cost estimate. We worked with the consultants, local utility representatives and the owners to ascertain relevant connection locations, utility capacities and design standards.

Hanscom Air Force Base, Maintenance Facility Addition
Location: Bedford and Lincoln, MA
Client: Leers, Weinzapfel Associates Architects, Inc.

Nitsch Engineering provided land surveying and civil/site engineering services for the expansion of the Hanscom Air Field Maintenance Facility and Sand Shelter. Services included water line design, site grading, an existing conditions plan, and a utility plan. Nitsch Engineering also performed an additional topographic survey.

 

Taunton Municipal Airport
Location: Taunton, MA
Client: Jacobs Edwards & Kelcey, Inc.

Nitsch Engineering has provided services on a number of projects for the Taunton Municipal Airport. These projects include:

    • A wetland flag survey used in the permitting and construction of a 12-foot security fence around the airport’s perimeter. We used the GPS Rapid Static method of data collection.
    • An existing conditions survey of an 11-acre paved area used as the long-term airplane parking area at Taunton Municipal Airport. The survey was used for permitting design and area reconstruction.
    • An existing conditions survey of the 3500-foot paved taxiway at Taunton Municipal Airport, used to upgrade the drainage and lighting systems that serviced the taxiway, and to ensure that the grading of the new taxiway matched the existing grading of the runway and airplane crib areas.
    • Ground surveys to design and locate obstacle warning light towers on the approach to Runway 30 at the airport.
    • An existing conditions survey to be used as the base for the design, permitting, and construction of the new East-West Access Road.

Beverly Airport, Runway Reconstructions
Location: Beverly, MA
Client: Jacobs Edwards & Kelcey, Inc.

Nitsch Engineering performed GPS and on-the-ground instrument surveys of roughly 33 acres of runway and woodland associated with Runway 16/34, and about 94 acres of runway and abutting land associated with Runway 9/27 at the Beverly Airport. The surveys were used to permit and design an 800-foot extension of Runway 16/34 and to reposition and reconstruct the 5,000-foot long Runway 9/27.

Barnstable Municipal Airport, Access Roads

Nitsch Engineering performed boundary retracement surveys of over 56 acres of land to be taken for new airport terminal access roads and parking at Barnstable Municipal Airport.

Norwood Airport
Location: Norwood, MA
Client: Jacobs Edwards & Kelcey, Inc.

Nitsch Engineering has provided land surveying services for the Norwood Airport for a number of projects. These services include:

    • Performing an existing conditions survey associated with the repaving of the nine-acre Airport Crib Area.
    • Performing an existing conditions survey of over four acres associated with the redesign of the Gate 3 Apron.
    • Performing an existing conditions survey of the paved portion of the Airport. The survey was used to design and permit a new Snow Removal Building.

Martha's Vineyard Airport

Location: Martha's Vineyard, MA

Client: Gale Associates, Inc.

 

Nitsch Engineering performed a 30-acre topographic survey, located the centerline of the runways, and prepared an Existing Conditions Plan in AutoCAD for the redevelopment of the terminal areas at the airport on Martha’s Vineyard.
