Land Surveying

Technology in the world of land surveying is fast-paced and ever changing. Nitsch Engineering offers a broad range of land surveying and related services. We are dedicated to evaluating the newest survey technologies to better serve our clients, whether they are the latest in laser total stations, robotic total stations, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), GPS, gyro-theodolites, laser scanning, or aerial photogrammetry. At Nitsch we work with each client to determine the appropriate scope of services and level of accuracy needed to meet the objectives of their project. Our project managers apply the requisite level of technology to the service requested, rather than over-complicate a task just for the sake of using a new technology.

Nitsch Engineering offers both surveying and engineering (civil and transportation) services – a clear advantage over survey-only companies. The integration of these services provide our surveyors with a better understanding of what engineers and architects require to develop an appropriate design for different types of projects. Our field and office personnel offer extensive experience, certified training, and flexibility to meet our clients’ project schedules.

Laser Scanning Surveys: Nitsch Engineering provides detailed, efficient, and remote access surveying by offering laser scanning services. Laser scanning provides safe, cost-effective surveys for a wide range of projects, including roads and intersections, railroads, tunnels, and buildings (both interior and exterior). We also have the ability to overlay these surveys with digital photos for added realism.

GIS: Nitsch Engineering uses GIS technology to improve project delivery and to provide the state-of-the-art tools to help clients attain their data management goals. By overlaying many different site factors, GIS analysis can help simplify the planning process when complex site or land issues are involved.

Training: Our training programs and educational practices are focused on helping our staff meet the safety and technical requirements of complex projects. Our surveyors have received training that includes:

  • Eight-hour Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) Construction Training
  • Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad (MBCR) Safety Training
  • Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Right-of-Way Safety Training
  • Amtrak Training
